NameAThing provides free, browser-based naming tools for personal and creative use. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Ownership of generated output
Names suggested by our generators — whether curated or freshly coined — are produced for you to use freely for your baby, pet, character, world, handle, band or other personal project. NameAThing claims no ownership over the output you take away.

No guarantee of uniqueness, availability or third-party rights
A generated name may already be in use somewhere — as a trademark, a username, a domain, a business, or a character in someone else's story. NameAThing cannot guarantee that any name is unique, available, or free of third-party rights. Before using a name commercially or registering it, check trademarks, domains and platform availability yourself, or consult a qualified professional. NameAThing does not perform these checks.

Accuracy of name information
We work to keep origins and meanings accurate and sourced, but etymology is a field with genuine scholarly disagreement. Treat meanings as well-researched guidance, not gospel, and see our Disclaimer for details.

Acceptable use
Don't use the site to generate names intended to harass, defame, impersonate or deceive, and don't attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the service. That's the whole list.

Intellectual property
The NameAThing site, its design, copy and code are ours. The names it suggests are yours. Third-party names, trademarks or works referenced anywhere on the site belong to their respective owners.

Changes to the service
We may add, change or retire tools over time. The site is provided "as is" — we aim for always-on and bug-free, but we don't warrant uninterrupted availability.
