Privacy Policy
A naming tool that runs in your browser has very little of your data to handle. Here it is in plain language, including how advertising services may work.

The short version
NameAThing’s name generators run in your browser. We don’t ask for accounts, and your descriptions and generated names are not stored on our servers. This page explains what we do and don’t handle, and how third-party advertising services such as Google may work if advertising is shown.

What the generators do with your text
When you describe what you’re naming, that text is processed entirely on your device by JavaScript running in your browser. It is not transmitted to NameAThing, logged, or stored anywhere after you leave the page. This applies to every generator on the site.

Accounts and personal data
NameAThing has no sign-up, no login and no user profiles. Through the site itself we do not collect names, email addresses, or other personal information.

If you email us
If you contact us at [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use it only to reply to you, and we don’t add you to any mailing list.

Cookies and local storage
The generators themselves do not set tracking cookies. Your browser may store what you type into a generator field only for as long as the page is open. This is separate from any cookies set by third-party advertising or analytics services, described below.

Third-party advertising (including Google AdSense)
NameAThing may display advertising provided by third-party vendors, including Google. When advertising is shown, these vendors, including Google, may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, device identifiers, or similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites. Google’s advertising cookies may be used to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can control or opt out of personalised advertising through Google’s Ads Settings, and you can manage cookies generally through your browser settings. This advertising activity is governed by the third-party vendors’ own policies, not by NameAThing.

How generator processing differs from advertising
The names you generate are produced locally in your browser and are not sent to NameAThing. Advertising and analytics services, by contrast, may collect information about your visit — such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view — in order to measure usage or serve relevant ads. These are two separate things: your generator input stays on your device, while advertising-related data may be processed by the advertising providers.

Other third-party services
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google’s servers to fetch them. Apart from fonts and any advertising or analytics services described above, no other third-party services receive your activity on NameAThing.

Children
NameAThing is a general-audience tool that collects no personal data through the site itself, including from children. Nothing on the site asks a visitor of any age to identify themselves. Advertising shown on the site is intended for a general audience.

Changes to this policy
If we ever add features that handle data differently — for example, saving shortlists — this page will be updated before those features launch, and the change will be described plainly.
