Generator

Kingdom Name Generator

Realm names built from a root and a terrain- or style-based suffix like -mark, -gard or -vale.

When to use it

Use this generator when naming realms, kingdoms and empires for worldbuilding, novels and campaigns. The names are built from a root plus a terrain- or style-based suffix such as -mark, -gard or -vale, so they read as places that belong to a landscape and a political tradition. It suits the nations on your map, the fallen empires in your history and the holds your characters travel through. Pair it with the Fantasy City and Tavern generators to populate a realm with settlements and waystops.

How to use it

Set Terrain to shape the suffix around geography — Plains gives -land and -mark, Forest gives -wood and -vale, Mountain gives -spire and -hold, Coast gives -reach and -sound. Use Realm style to shape it around the realm’s nature — Kingdom, Empire, Hold or Vale. You can use either, both, or neither. Generate a batch, then Generate again for more. Previously seen names are skipped first, so repeated clicks keep producing fresh realms. Copy any name with a tap, or copy the whole batch.

Questions

Are these names unique or free to use?
NameAThing claims no ownership over the names it generates, but it cannot guarantee a name is unique, available as a username or domain, or free of trademarks. If you plan to use a name commercially, check trademarks, domains and platform availability yourself.
What is the difference between Terrain and Realm style?
Terrain shapes the suffix around geography (forest, mountain, coast). Realm style shapes it around the realm’s nature (kingdom, empire, hold, vale). Use either or both.
